Located in Kakabeka Provincial Park, are the second highest waterfalls in Ontario with a drop of 40 m. They are truly magnificent and worth a stop at any time of the year. The force of the falls created a basin at the bottom of the falls which is popular for swimming in the summer. In winter, you’ll likely have the falls to yourself.
Unlike, Niagara falls which can be only viewed from one side, Kakabaela falls has a trail to view from almost all sides. The views are very different so if you have the time be sure to view the falls from all angles. There are several areas to enjoy a picnic near the falls as well. The park is also home to a variety of wildlife, including beavers, otters, deer, and moose.
Kakabeka Falls is one of Northern Ontario's most beautiful natural attractions. If you're looking for an alternative to Niagara Falls that's less crowded and more focused on nature, Kakabeka Falls is the perfect spot for you. Be sure to check out the hiking trails and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife when you visit!
